CELEBRATEBOWIE SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS
In 1989, Rykodisc employee Jeff Rougvie began a nearly 10-year collaboration with David Bowie to re-present Bowie's greatest run of music (from 1969's Space Oddity to 1980's Scary Monsters).
With Bowie's permission, Rougvie was given full access to review and catalog the entire Bowie Vault, resulting in nearly 20 releases, including the Grammy-winning career overview box set "Sound + Vision," a deluxe version of "Ziggy Stardust" and two new compilations.
During this period Bowie was working to regain his artistic footing after an era during which the artist himself commented "My lack of interest in my own work was starting to show." Unlike other artists, who may have rested on their laurels, Bowie said "I had to kick-start my engine. There'd been a wobbly moment where I could quite easily have gone reclusive."
His hands-on work with David during this period gave Rougve a unique perspective on both Bowie's history and the surge to find new artistic challenges in an era of triumphs, misfires, and ultimately happiness.
His CELEBRATEBOWIE speaking engagements have entertained sold-out crowds of Bowie fans interested in the legendary performer's history, but can also be tailored to serve as motivational presentations for business, artists, and others.
In addition to his numerous accomplishments in the music business, Rougvie has spoken at SXSW, MIT, Berklee, the New Music Seminar, and at numerous sales & marketing conferences.
